Owned front-end and feature development for a fintech platform on Ionic, TypeScript, serverless, and AWS — including Akahu bank-feed integration for live transactions.
The Challenge
MoneyFit needed a fintech experience that worked on mobile and desktop: users had to connect bank accounts, review live transaction feeds, and manage money workflows in a product that felt trustworthy and maintainable. The platform combined Ionic, TypeScript, serverless architecture, and AWS — with a custom Akahu integration at the center of bank connectivity.
Constraints
- Dual surfaces (mobile and desktop) from a shared Ionic / TypeScript codebase.
- Live bank feeds via Akahu for connecting accounts and listing transactions accurately.
- Small team delivery: senior engineer, designer, and full-stack developer shipping prototypes and production apps together.
- Tooling spanned VS Code, Sublime Text, Xcode, Ionic, and Android Studio for cross-platform builds and debugging.
Contributions
- Owned the front-end end to end — feature development across the Ionic apps while coordinating serverless and AWS-backed flows.
- Integrated Akahu for bank connectivity — live bank feeds to analyze and list transactions rather than static or mocked financial data.
- Ran a disciplined delivery cadence — planned bi-weekly sprints, conducted code reviews, and kept repositories, code, and APIs documented for the team.
Outcomes
I shipped MoneyFit as production mobile and desktop experiences with live bank-transaction workflows. Prototypes informed product direction, and sprint discipline kept a three-person team aligned from design through release.
